LISTENING

To listen we have to observe in order to assess what we are hearing and sensing in the words, emotions and body language. If we want to choose how to react, our assessment has to be grounded to judge the beliefs held by the speaker –  to what context does it apply, is it import to us, can we believe it, does it make sense, have verifiable supportive facts and feel authentic?

    • To what context does it apply?

    • Is it import to us?

    • Can we believe it?

    • Does it make sense?

    • Are their verifiable and supportive facts?

    • Does it feel authentic?

As we listen we are assessing if we care about what is being said as this heightens our awareness and its value to us.  We have to trust that the future we expect will happen as the speaker suggests.  Without trust, no action will follow.  It’s assessment of the speaker’s competence and sincerity.
