LEARNING
Learning at times of rapid change is essential if we want to “keep up”, be “effective”, and “adapt”. The challenge is to learn how to learn in ways that we find interesting, imperative, and enjoyable. There is no denying that finding the time to practice is vital. But it has to be done regularly, with care and thoroughness if meaningful distinctions are to be made. The resulting changes in behaviour and thought have to be embodied if it is to become a shift in our Way of Being.
The emphasis is on learning to do, not just to know. It involves an assessment that we can take action based on the new distinctions we are making. It’s not the word it’s what it means to us when we bring it to life in our behaviour. We don’t become better parents or leaders of our live’s by reading a book. We become somebody new through actions that train our nervous system to make us unconsciously competent.
We are ignorant when know we don’t know something, but we are blind when we don’t know that we don’t know. When we say we don’t know are opening the “possibility space” in our mind to question and seek possibilities for learning.
