METAVERSE

Metaverse means and implies the convergence that manifests how technology will merge our real biological world with the digital virtual world. The acceptance of the Metaverse by human beings will be achieved in three stages:

1.- Immersion through images, sounds, and other stimuli to be absorbed in the virtual environment that surrounds us.

2.- Presence, which means, not only to be immersed, but that the brain accepts the new virtual or digital reality as a replacement of reality.

3.- Sense of incarnation, where we psychologically and physically adopt the avatar, which is a physical or digital representation of ourselves, taking our real body into the  Metaverse, in such a way that the Metaverse becomes the place where we really want to spend time. Our integration with the Metaverse will be achieved with the commitment of educational and academic institutions to validate and guarantee its application.

Dematerialization.  What the proponents of Metaverses argue is that there is currently an 18- to 36/40-year-old demographic group keen to spend time online rather than offline. They believe that dematerialization will lead them to prefer to spend their money on virtual experiences or items, such as NFT Non-Fungible Tokens, instead of spending or investing in material things like cars, clothing, lifestyle or property.

The graphic novel Altopia was one of the best sellers at the International Book Fair in La Paz this year. It anticipates that within 30 years the city of El Alto, the second most populous in the country with a population of 1.1 million with over half of them under 25 years of age,  the majority of whom are young migrants from communities and towns in the Bolivian Altiplano, and currently the most populated city with people of indigenous origin in Latin America, will become a robotic city with cyborg robots and robotic minibusses with feet, a reality made possible by combining the world of technology with Andean customs and traditions, as detailed in the graphic novel.

Living this process of convergence in this first virtual era will prompt many people to seek a virtual experience that is more real than real experience. In the Metaverse, it will be possible to accompany and stand next to your favorite soccer player on the field during a live match. One will be able to live an experience that is no longer limited or connected to what is happening in our physical reality because the virtual or augmented experience will transcend our actual reality in order to serve as a basis for projecting and feeling virtual reality in the Metaverse. It further suggests that such experiences in the Metaverse will not be limited to individuals, but will be accessible to groups of people, communities, and society at large.  There will be thousands of Metaverses. What would be the implication of this?
