AUTOPOISIS
Autopoiesis is a “self-making” process used by the body to renew its physiology whilst retaining its identity and structure, so your genes and memes know what is “you” and what is “not you”.
Autopoiesis comes from Greek “self-made.” Maturana and Varela see this as the primary distinction between living and non-living things. From their concept of self-organizing systems emerges an understanding of enactive cognition.
