Creating a Well-Formed Outcome
Having created a vision of your perfect future it’s important to pin down the details of your ultimate goal or outcome and write them down. You will want to refer to them later and amend them from time to time as your understanding of what is possible and not possible grows, and your level of commitment goes up and down. This is an excellent tool to use if you want to lose weight.
By taking the time to think through the following questions you will get a clearer and more focused idea of what it is that you really want and have identified what might stop it from happening. This makes it a “well-formed outcome” and therefore more specific, measurable and achievable. Careful thought will enable you to achieve other goals if you achieve this one. For example, as a diabetic losing weight will reduce the dosage and even remove their dependency on insulin. But you would then lose your right to free prescriptions for other ailments. Now consider . . .
1. What exactly do you want to happen?
2. What bigger purpose will this goal deliver for you?
4. How will you be able to do when you have achieved your goal that you cannot do now?
5. What inner resources do you have now that you can bring to achieve your goal?
6. What resources do you not have that you will need to develop?
7. What will you gain and lose when you achieve your goal?
8. What is your level of commitment to achieve this goal?
